Default Leather Care

I have noticed a lot of dye transfer from my pants to my new car. It's only been 4 weeks and 2,000 miles, so I decided to clean the leather.

I went for Einszett Cockpit Cleaner to clean the blue jean dye from the driver's seat and it worked perfectly. I decided to do all the other seats as well.

Afterward, I read that leather only needs to be cleaned. Also, conditioners on modern leather are a waste. However, leather protectant is something that should be done after cleaning. So I went with the Einszett Leather Care Lederpflege, which has a similar scent to the new Audi leathers (Audi leather is produced by Boxmark, apparently), and wiped the seat inserts down and then wiped off with a dry towel.

I did some research and found that Boxmark suggests to only clean the leather regularly. Not one mention of "conditioner."

Then I did some more research, and found this gigantic post with valuable information on leather care. http://www.detailingworld.co.uk/foru....php?p=2359382

I guess I used the right cleaner and protectant combo. Phew!

The seats look great. I wish I took before and after photos to show the difference.

I have the beige leather interior. I usually clean the interior every time I wash my car, so about once a month in the cold months and about 2 times a month when it's about 50 degrees. I used to use Lexol leather cleaner and a soft paint brush to lather. It cleaned pretty good and was pretty cheap. Now I use Coral Blue leather cleaner mixed with some hot water. I use the same process with the paint brush, this seams to clean a lot better. Also works wonder on the plastics as well. The conditioner is usually work the dashboard and other areas where sun is in contact. It, for me at least, keeps the color strong. Just make sure it is not leaving an oily finish as that can cause drying and cracking.

I love LeatherCPR works great as a cleaner conditioner with no left over slippery feeling, yet the leather feels more supple.
