I just upgraded from a 2003 A4 to a 2012 A6, but i got so used to having a NAV system on my old Audi, I feel like I still wanna have it on my new A6.
The car is NAV capable. It has the button for it, but obviously i need to start somewhere. Do I need to buy just the map disks or do I need hardware installed as well? Im hoping it's just the maps obviously, that would be the easy way out...

What engine and trim level do you have? AFAIK, the only A6 that doesn't come standard w/ NAV is the 2.0T Premium (at least based on 2014 specs).

Yup, you're exactly right, that's what I have.
2012 A6 Premium 2.0

So what are my options? Do I need to buy just software or hardware as well?

I have a Canadian spec 2012 Premium with navigation option.
Going to cost $1,800.00 + Tax to get it.
