Must be, i even called my dealer and they said there's no ashtray or outlet other than under the armrest. Very annoying for radar purposes. And I'm having mine hardwired anyway, but I don't have time yet and need the radar.

Nope, don't even recall there being a smoker's package option in the US.

I have a ashtray in my vehicle. Currently in Germany with US Spec A6.

The 2013 A6 Order Guide says something like "storage tray in console - instead of ashtray and cigarette lighter". Could be they did this change mid year on the 2012's? Another cheesy cost saving change. Jeez.

I am located in the US, and my A6 has an ashtray and outlet in the tray right below the A/C unit. There was no option for having this, it just came with the vehicle. It is a Prestige, perhaps different trims are different.

Yeah, I think it could have to do with trim levels or like someone else said, just another cost cutting method. I also have a US Presige model and have the ashtray and lighter.

Although, I wouldn't mind too much to have just the bin for more storage space.

Anyone care to post a pic of the storage bin version?

My ashtray-less MY12 is a Prestige as well. Very odd. It's useful storage space, but I'd really like having the outlet there.

No outlet in my car either. Currently running the wire to the armrest. Really annoying.
