I think the author's conclusion that "Largely by increasing the turbocharger boost of the 4-liter engine used in the S6" is probably correct in explaining the horsepower difference in the S8. Do you agree?

That is why once the tuners (would someone tell me which one to pick?) have software upgrades for the S6 and I get my S6 (January) I intend to get much of the S8 engine by that method.

I don't believe that is correct. The air intakes are different and I believe there are some different internals as well.

So, I read on the A8 forums, you are changing to an S8? If so, what will happen to the S6 you ordered? I might be interested in buying it if you are canceling your S6 order!

I found it interesting that while both the S6 and S7 have the 7-speed dual clutch transmission the S8 has an 8-speed Tiptronic. Wonder why. I would actually prefer an S6 with the Tiptronic based on my understanding of the dual clutch transmission's not so smooth operation. The S6 may be fast but it is still essenially a luxury vehicle.

An interesting topic..there are 2 thoughts here

1. 7Speed DSG cannot handle the massive torque.
2. S8 owners, are likely a different luxury kind of owners. DSG might not be smooth enough for them

Audi has never publicly said how much torque DSG can handle. So its anyone's guess

If it si point #1 - should this be a concern for S6 owners looking to mod their cars?
If it is point #2 - yes they are different - wealthier - lol
