Hi guys,

I am new to this forum and hope someone can please help me with an intermittent transmission issue.

I own a 2014 Audi A6

2800cc Petrol with around 120,000kms on the clock.

A gearbox malfunction warning pops up when driving in traffic conditions. This happens only when on 2nd gear and when driving uphill/ downhill under 30kmph and you come to a complete stop the warning pops up and puts the vehicle in to limp mode. If I switch the ignition off and start the car back up the warning disappears. The car drives quite well and the gear shifting is also very smooth, so it is quite strange that it’s doing this.

I have taken the car to the dealership and the transmission fluid was changed and the cooler valve was also replaced. However, this hasn't addressed the issue. Now I have taken the vehicle to a transmission specialist and looks like they are also battling to figure out what’s causing this issue.

I know this thread is a little old, but has anyone resolved this issue? Getting same P187B code and same symptoms where it only happens during the 2-1 downshift on slight declines/inclines. Also getting the 2-1 downshift bump in stop and go traffic. Otherwise, car shifts great and no issues.
