how long since the last oil change? My 2010 Q5 used a quart between changes (I had the oil changed every 10K miles)

I'm 5000 miles in my last oil change and approaching the low mark on the mmi. This is the 2nd oil change for me since I had the car and needed 1-2 quarts in between.

complete records from every service since new...i am 2nd owner now with 65k miles...bought with 46k.

I wouldn't sweat 1-2 quarts every 10k miles assuming you use good oil. Many here use mobil1 0w40 502 approved by vw/audi available at Wal-Mart for 25 bucks for a 5 liter jug. You need about 1.5 jugs for an oil/filter change.

Is it the 2.0T or 3.0 supercharged engine? The former is quite simply infamous at this point for oil consumption issues - my wifes A4 Avant 2.0T had to go through a whole Oil Test song and dance and upon finding 1 quart per 1000 miles, Audi did a whole big valve replacement job for free outside warranty because of a class action suit that had put them under the motor industry spotlight. On the other hand (knock on wood as I say this), my A6 3.0 supercharged thus far isn't showing a smidge of oil consumption. If you have the 2.0T and the oil usage seems outside reasonable boundaries, squeeze your Audi dealer until he pops (look for the Class action material on-line as that's what I threw at them and they quickly played ball).

Its almost like posting location and relevant car details is necessary to get an intelligent response. I still find it incredible that people just don’t get it.

Also why can't people make meaningful thread titles?
