Default Possible to use non-Adaptive Cruise Control

I have a 2013 Audi S6 with Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC). I usually drive in the Washington DC area very early in the morning, or after rush hour in the evening when traffic is relatively light. In my 2002 A6, I used cruise control very often. However, in the S6, even with the following range set to as short as possible, I don't like how the adaptive cruise control works. For example, if I'm driving along in a middle lane of the highway, and another car changes two lanes in front of me, the cruise control applies the brakes, even though it's clear to me that the car in front of me is changing 2 lanes and will not affect me.

So, can I turn off the "Adaptive" part of the cruise control and use it as normal cruise control if I want?

This has been asked before and, so far I've not seen a way it can be done. What I do in this situation is feather the gas pedal to temporarily override the ACC. After a moment or two, I ease off the pedal and the ACC then allows the car to slow gradually to regain the gap without braking. Took a bit of practice but I don't even think about it any more - it just works for me.

Thanks for the info. Yes, that's a solution!

I was browsing through the topics for the exact same question you posted. Still no news? . It would have been so easy for Audi to implement also the CC function beside ACC.

Has anyone found a way to achieve the original question posed here?

You can also pull the cruise control stalk towards you in those situations to over ride the brakes and allow it to accelerate, if you don’t want it to accelerate and just want it to avoid braking then you may be able to play with the stalk just pulling it and letting go frequently so it won’t do either. Pretty sure there isn’t an option in the drivers assistance screen to actually shut off the radar but if it really bothers you than you can reverse engineer the guys that retrofitted the system and just uncode it.

Default Adaptive cruise control

Well if it is engaged, you are burning up your brakes. If you really dont want to drive a car. Dont buy one. I prefer to be in control, not a computer

I agree, I don't want one with the radar controlled feature. I can do things myself.
