I was under the impression that the part of the seat he is having the problem with was the real leather...and that the leatherette was only where your butt wouldn't be...Plus honestly the leatherette wears better, so I wouldn't say its because of that.
To OP...dealer should certainly cover this issues, especially since its also now on the passenger seat, but I noticed in the photo that the armrest (driver side) looks like water dripped down it. Do you think the seat got wet and when you sat in it creases/folds/marks were caused??

IME, leatherette (vinyl) is far more durable than leather. I have the similar wear on the driver's side and assumed it was leather. Will also ask my service adviser as I'm overdue for the first 5,000 mile maintenance.

I believe the problem area of the OP's seat is leatherette, I can usually tell by the grain. I beleive only the seating area is leather which means the area between the side bolster.

I had it done along with a scheduled maintenance. A day and a half as I recall. The key is having the dealer set it up in advance with their upholstery contractor with the needed panels in stock from Audi.

I just hit around 1000km (600 miles). I seem to have similar issues. The dealer said that part is synthetic leather and is normal. I thought the synthetic is suppose to be more durable thus the reason to put it on that location in the first place. So for those who have the same problem and had the dealership replace the leather/synthetic have trouble getting them to agree? I would expect this kind of wearing after 50,000 km not 1000 km.
