I don't know the weight difference between the A5 and A6, but I had a 2011 A5 and the performance wasn't bad.
All those you feel like the 2.0T suits them better should feel confident sticking with it. If you are indeed used to 400Hp cars, then sure, it will feel anemic. But Audi lists a 0-60mph of 7.5 sec for the CVT, which is more than adequate for most people. Note that the CVT 2.0T is over 360lbs lighter than the 3.0T. While quattro will probably reduce that weight difference to about 150-200lbs, the much nicer 8-speed tip transmission that comes with it might actually more than make up for the extra weight and improve the 0-60mph time to about 7.0-7.2 secs (if the performance difference between CVT & quattro/tip for the A4 is any indication).

I don't know how Audi does it (more aluminum?), but the 2.0T A6 is only about 170lbs heavier than the 2.0T A4 (perhaps typo on Audi's site?). So the performance hit should not be significant compared to the A4, unless there are other factors to consider.

Some of the pros of the 2.0T:
- More mature and reliable technology (contestable, but seems valid to me)
- Better mpgs.
- Lighter and less nose heavy car, which might improve handling.
- Cheaper to maintain
- Lots of "repair knowledge" out there and third party parts if long term ownership is a factor.

The obvious shortcoming:
- It won't have the locomotive pull feel of the 3.0T. For many, the exhilaration they get from it more than justifies every extra penny they have spent on it. But if you are not into that, then why spend the substantial additional money? (quattro will reduce the price difference between 2.0T and 3.0T).

What kind of power you are used to will be a big factor in what you will be hap[py with.

I was just about to comment that the $6000 difference might go down to $4000 once you add tip/quattro to the 2.0T, but then I noticed your numbers are already for the 2013 model, and I realized the price difference for 2012 between 2.0T/CVT and 3.0T/tip is over $8000!

Perhaps there are more differences than one might guess? Beefier transmission? More structural bracing at the front? Beefier engine/transmission mounts? Beefier braking system (not just ventilated at the rear)? Other differences in the interior that are not readily apparent? (better seats, more sound insulation, other little touches?) Or that is just the extra money Audi can command?

Anyone know when we will see the 2.0 at the local dealers to test drive?

Depends on your dealer... Mine already has gotten the first of their 2013 allocations and seems to have a couple 2.0T.

Do they have the 2013 Quattro 2.0T, of just the fwd. I contact a couple of dealers in my area and they said they can't even order the quattro 2.0T yet, and they have no idea when they will see a car.

I drove both the 2.0T quattro and 3.0 at our Audi dealer in Charlotte over the weekend. I purposely drove the 2.0 first to see if it would meet my needs - which it does. The 3.0 pretty much knocked my socks off though. I ended up ordering the 2.0 for budget and other reasons but in a vacuum the 3.0 is clearly superior.

The 2.0T Quattro is a very impressive car.

Lots of fun to drive and so much better than the CVT A6.

It feels so much stronger than 211 hp.
