I too have the 9500ix (to cheap to get the ci) and I have it hardwired in by the rearview mirror, no issues at all. I also bought the laser jammers by escort installed in the front bumper and rear license plate and both work great with no issues. Much better than the V1 in my opinion.

The built in is the RL360i. Have had zero problems with it in my wife's car. The only option missing from her Garnet Red Pearl Metallic is the B and O sound system. She refuses to put in a better sound system in a car than we have at home. My Audi which is similarly equipped as hers uses the RL100 and i keep a spare Beltronics in the trunk for emergencies when i forget the K40 which I remove off the dash when parked. Over the years I have always had a detector in every car-I am not a speeder-but i like to know when there is something observing me just to be extra safe. Every one has their favorites and will tout what they like. But I go back to having the Fox and Fuzzbuster in the early days and have had everything made since. I can only swear by the K40's. Have never had one go bad on me. And their customer service has always been spot on. Nothing is perfect protection-if they hit you with instant on and you are the only one on the road-they can get you. All you can ask for is peace of mind and reliability. The post about using the Valentine is correct-if you turn POP off you will not have any problem with that either.

I found this a bit odd, but the laser warning, in my book, is basically useless.
I get laser warning false alarms from modern LED tail lights on other cars. This is somewhat common, I think.

And yes, Laser warnings are about 95% useless. If you can read the laser, you're already pinged. Might as well pull over.

I'm going to put a laser jammer on my next car. Still researching them, but the best seem to be the Laser Star and Laser Interceptor.

If you Google laser interceptor you'll get a link to radardector.net reviews which should be helpful. Radar Roy also comes to mind, but not sure if that's still current.

I believe laser jammers are illegal in all states just as an FYI.

Not all states outlaw LASER jammers(yet), but the number of states outlawing them is increasing. Currently 12 states make it illegal to operate a laser jammer.

However, RADAR jammers are illegal under Federal law, so this applies in all 50 states.

Thanks for the link. Lots of general knowledge ramp up for me to do.

I agree with grapeking's comment that it is not illegal in all states but radar jammers are. Besides thinking of getting another toy for the car, I really need to just slow down.

Miss the autobahn. *sigh*

I have the Escort laser jammers installed on my car with the passport 9500xi and they seem to work great. So far, no tickets in the past 2 years.

Hi, did you use the windshield mount that came with the 9500ix or some other method or DIY? The post on the rearview mirror is of an irregular shape and I can't seem to find a good mounting solution to have it sitting directly under the rearview mirror.

Pics of your setup would be greatly appreciated!

Michael
