Everyone has their own favorites and of course their own opinions about what they like or not. I have had just about all of the detectors made both built in and portables. Recently received the K40 RLS I ordered and so far, on the drives we take, it is at least as sensitive as our previous models but with zero falsing due to other cars with adaptive cruise or side assist. We had it next to our other 3 Audis and even then could not set it off. Personally prefer the older display but just being a tad picky.
Since Beltronics and Escort are the same company, whatever model someone is comfortable with is fine-we still use the Bel 985,995, and the newer Pro 300 and feel they all perform just fine and choosing between them and the escort line is just a matter of preference for certain features. I have an older valentine in the garage and can say nothing bad about it but it is rather large in size and can obscure the vision of the road for my wife who is rather petite in size.
I am not a speeder but I do drive fast at times but would never dream of driving without one of these in the car. It keeps me a bit more alert, a bit more awake, and I like the feeling of knowing when the boys are anywhere around so I just do not do anything that could be construed as stupid(like changing lanes without a signal). I do take issue with those who are quick to dismiss using a detector with their usual advice of just don't speed. Speeding is not the only reason for having one and if you can afford to drive one of these lovely cars, spending a little bit for an extra level of security is a no brainer.

I also usually don't speed, but I tend to cruise at 5-7mph over the posted limit (except in town). As an example of when the radar-detector is very useful: if I come up behind a car doing 45 in a 50, I'm going to pass it. I'm not going to stay at the speed limit when I pass, and in fact to spend minimum time in the other lane, I'll probably be doing 65 by the time I'm finished. Is this Speeding--Absolutely--Is it the safe way to pass--Absolutely!
