Need to vent. How stupid. Replaced the battery in one of my key fobs and now it isn't recognized by the car. The other one thankfully works fine.
You shouldn't have to take the car to the dealer to get the key to be recognized again under this kind of condition. This may seem petty, but this is the kind of crap that makes me think to not get another Audi in the future.
I've searched and dealer seems to be the only option. Anyone have any other advice or suggestions?
2015 A6 btw.

That is odd, I have replaced the fob battery with no issues and I'm sure others have as well. Silly question but you did use a 2032 battery correct? If you still have the old battery maybe try and swapping it back?
The key doesn't have to be re-adapted to the car so a trip to the dealer is wasted time/money.they will just sell you an overpriced battery for the remote and charge you an hr labor.

Make sure the red light flashes when you press a button. Unless the remote is not working or incorrect (damage, wrong battery, incorrect battery orientation, wrong remote, etc), the car should recognize it with a new, proper battery. We've replaced twice with no problems.

100% 2032 battery. Even went and got another one to be sure it wasn't just dead from the package.
Red light flashes once when sliding it back in, but does not flash when pressing the buttons. This key fob is literally the better/newer of the two I have as well.
I also just tried to bend the metal prongs for the fob inside, and even shim the + side of the battery. Still no difference.

Ok, I kept messing with it, basically removing the battery and putting it back in over and over again. This last time, it worked. No idea why, but I'll take it. Looks like persistence was the key -- no pun intended.
Thanks for the replies. It helped me not give up hope.
