To use a metaphor, if a house has some weather damage to the roof or siding and it's repaired correctly, it doesn't diminish the resale value and need not be disclosed. If a car has had some minor body damage or mechanical issues, is repaired back to new condition and has no structural or remaining mechanical defects, the same would be true. If a car was in a serious accident that caused major damage, that's a different story and should be disclosed to a potential purchaser. IMO, as to notification, there is a line in there somewhere that's best for an honest seller to determine.

I would think maybe if its a high-end repair shop they may not report to carfax because they probably dont need the money (expensive cars usually have people with good insurence ect..) as well as being higher end they should have a desire to support their clients any way possible, and that means keeping repairs between them and their client.
