Default Secondary Nav display freeze-up

Well I just finished the first day of a road trip and as I approached my destination (about 45 minutes out) I noticed the nav display (above steering wheel) had stopped updating directions. The distance to destination and next turn updated correctly and all the other tabs (radio, data, etc.) were still functioning normally. Pop up display and the underlying nav system continued working. After stopping for the day and rebooting MMI seems to be working.. Anybody else seen this?

I used to get this with my A8 in the early days (it's probably still quite similar underneath the skin when compared to the A6). It used to literally drive me nuts - having to reboot the MMI sometimes 2 or 3 times a day whilst driving.

Audi UK technical advised the dealership that I should try the car without anything connected to the MMI socket.

It turned out that the USB stick that I had plugged into the MMI seemed to cause this problem.

Otherwise, get it logged with the dealer. If they believe you (as it's never logged on the car that there was a fault), they may create a diss report for escalation.

Good luck

Well day 2 of road trip and all worked fine.. who knows? There's sure a ton of silicon in this car and I guess we need to treat it more like a computer than normal..

I'm curious as what kind of fuel economy you are seeing on the open road with the A6?

There was a very good thread on this not too long ago. I think 30+ was the general responses. I see close to that just driving 15 miles each way to work.

According to the car about 29 cruising at about 75.. it's definitely sipping gas in 8th gear.. about 2k revs or less. Until you punch it and then it flat out takes off.. Best accelerating car I've ever owned.. awesome ride. Only complaint is a lot of road noise from those 20" tires ... BUT they look awesome and that's what counts.

Thanks guys. That is pretty impressive for a car with the power of the A6 3.0T.

I think I inadvertently hijacked this thread since it was about the freeze-up. Sorry.

Now back to the Secondary Nav display issue.
