Sport differentials retrofit

You'll be better off upgrading to the S6 if you want the sport differential. The A6 does not have the sport differential as an option from the factory, so it'll probably require a custom tuner to get it integrated. The sport differential is part of the ESP, so the A6 most likely doesn't have the software to control the sport differential in the first place. Simple coding won't do it. Besides, based on folks who had to replace a failed sport differential have reported that the cost is close to $10,000 USD, so between the parts, labor and custom development to retrofit one to an A6, which doesn't have provision for it in the first place, you'll probably look at a similar or higher price tag.

Looks like I looked in the wrong place. The sport differential is indeed still available for the A6 in Europe, so perhaps it's technically possible to retrofit on a U.S./Canada spec model with coding. However, the 3.0T with Tiptronic is a North America option only. In Europe the 3.0T doesn't exist anymore, only the 3.0TDI. Don't remember if it existed for MY2012. The A6 for North America has always been a bit different. In Europe most trims are offered with the S-tronic, whereas North America got the Tiptronic instead. Not sure what that means as far as coding and provision for the sport differential is concerned.

In Europe it was equipped with the 7 speed s-tronic (double clutch transmission). Here only the BiTurbo TDI comes with the 8 speed ZF automatic transmission all other C7 is equipped with the s-tronic.
