What I was trying to say is that you should not do any gymnastics, futzing or muscling with the steering wheel. Just point it in the direction that you want the car to go, and ignore the varying motor assist.

Yeah,I tried that first per your suggestion. No difference. Car will wander regardless and won't center itself back. If I don't make an adjustment, it will continue to drift. Or not. Just depends on how it happens to feel that day.
