I've recently noticed when I'm backing up (my stereo mutes 100%) that there is a slight grinding noise from the steering wheel while i"m trying to line up in my parking space.

I've heard it before in my previous Ford, but it was a hydrolic steering, so it was expected.

I guess I expected my Audi to be dead quiet since it is for pretty much everything else.

Anybody else notice this???

My 2013 doesn't do this (yet). Even though the steering is electronic, there's still mechanical parts involved and something may not be lubricating properly. What's unusual is you only notice it when backing up. You would think if it's steering related, you would hear it when slowly pulling forward as well when you turn the wheel.

If it's 100% reproduceable, the dealer hopefully should be able to diagnose and fix it. The key word being "hopefully". At least on the first visit.

I have that too, not very loud but audible, wasn't there in the begining but now a 6k and lower temps I can almost always hear it.

I haven't heard/experienced anything like this for my 2012. Currently have about 15K miles.

Just dropped mine off yesterday for a TSB regarding the Power Steering. As far as I know though, this is only a software update.

Have you talked with your Audi Service Dept regarding this?

TSB just corrects for an erroneous steering warning light for some on start up. Doesn't do anything else.

Not yet, I don't even have 2K miles on the car, so was curious if it was just me or if others were experiencing the issue as well. I will give them a call today and see what their recommendation is.

I have about 3k miles on my 2013 3.0....i have a dull grinding noise after the car has been driven for about 15 mins. Forward and reverse. Dealer can't figure it out.
