Many of you have performed Vag Mods to your vehicle. Is it pretty easy to do? Is it worth the money to buy the cable? It seems expensive, but it sounds like you guys are all having a lot of fun modifying your settings. I'm awfully tempted...

I've had mine for four years and have made mods to all four of my Audis. Also, if you have someone else do it for you, sometimes some mods get reset to default if Audi service does a software upgrade and you have to start over. Owning your own cable makes it easy to redo your changes.

Sure, so long as you follow the instructions from other Vag-Com owners who post the info. What you don't want to do is start messing around with software settings when you don't know what you're doing.
Check out the A6 Vag-Com thread - most of the common mods are listed or with links to other sites with directions. No computer science degree is necessary, just a PC laptop or Mac Book with Windows virtual loaded. The VCDS (Vag-Com) software is free once you have the cable. Stay away from eBay Vag-Com "cables" as they are not fully engineered with the proper firmware. Pig in a poke.
