Update to everyone: When I dropped my car for its first service I went and talked with my Sales guy about it. I forwarded him a few links from A6 inventory listing pages from local dealers who have pictures showing the inside of the trunk. In all of these pics there was a ski bag in sitting right there in plane view. He was real cool about it, went and got one from somewhere and handed it to me.

Page 61 of the owner's manual talks about the ski bag. It includes language stating that the information about the ski bag applies to -- wait for it -- vehicles equipped with a ski bag. 
I got an iPod connector cable, which in my case is pretty much useless, since everybody in the house has Android smartphones. Also, the clear plastic bag (apparently for storing dirty tires that have gone flat?).

I doubt you use an android for that!
Or do you only listen to talk radio?

I am actually looking at android for my next Smart Phone and a separate thread would be a valuable resource to a more than a few of us.
