Default What is in the A6 that drive my Radar Detector nuts?

Took the back roads for part of my commute this morning. Cruising along and my Bel Radar detector is going crazy. K band, ka band, back and forth continuous alerts. I expect a cruiser to come from somewhere any minute but mile after mile no cruiser and the radar detector is still going nuts.

As traffic clear I come up behind a new A6, radar detector is still going crazy until I pass the A6 and put it a few miles behind me.

Collision avoidance system?????

Adaptive cruise control / collision avoidance braking would be my guess, or perhaps the Audi side assist which tells you when there's a vehicle in your blind spot (very similar to parking proximity sensors), as both operate on 24 GHz, which is smack in the middle of K band (which is also used by door openers at the supermarket). I believe the system is made by Hella and is common to Audi, MB, BMW, VW, and Mazda vehicles, among others. Audi's side assist system has a detection range of up to 230 feet.

People with radar detectors (including the ones who own Audi vehicles) are likely going to be irked. On the plus side, if the signals are strong enough, Audi owners MAY get a break from speed cameras that get confused in the presence of K band interference (although if the camera uses Ka or Ku band, it probably wouldn't make a difference).
