Default Current A6 not to be replaced until 2025

Looks like the current model will remain in production until 2025. https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/n.../audi-a7-avant. This article also suggests that there will only be Sportback (like current A7) and Avant versions, no Saloon (Sedan) version.

not exactly. What the article states which is consistent with previous reports is the next gen A6 Avant will be called the A7. The A6 sedan replacement, the A6 e-tron, will be out in a few months as a 2025 model available in 2024 and will be full EV.

I think the Audi brand will dissappear if it continues to go 100% EV. It makes some sense to go EV in Europe due to travel distances but not in America. Ford is cutting EV production by 50% next year and ramping up ICE vehicles.
I think mild hybrid are the way to go like our current A6 models. JMHO.

I'm confused by this announcement because I thought Audi would introducing only EV's from 2026 onward.

I'm afraid this will be my last Audi. I really don't like this car from the extreme turbo lag to the lack of usable storage space. I really really miss my 2012 almost as much as I miss driving stick. The problem I am having is I have no idea what to buy.

Audi, along with most others, has backed off from the Kool-aid drinking. I don't think they ever said all-EV would start in 2026. That is about when they are going to the even/EV, odd/ICE model numbers.

They did back in 2021:

If they're still holding their word, then this ICE A6 (renamed A7) will be a facelift rather than a ground-up design. Really weird though as the A6 and A7 were both already refreshed for 2024.

In just 2 years the world has changed a lot. For instance the UK has moved the date that bans the sales of non plug-in hybrid ICE cars from 2030 to 2035. 2024 changes would not be classed as a facelift (for instance no new light designs, bumpers or significant tech changes). Article in the (UK) Daily Telegraph https://www.telegraph.co.uk/business...-cars-rollout/ suggests that Audi (and many others) are easing back on their plans for ECVs due to lack of demand. The facelift for 2025 can be expected to be the last for the A6/A7 as an ICE product as it is doubtful that Audi will invest significant amounts in developing a new ICE product when legislation around the world will be forcing buyers wanting a new car to get an EV.

Audi already considers the '24 A6 a mid-cycle facelift according to their press release:
A6 Model Family
The 2024 A6 model line includes the A6 Sedan, A6 allroad, S6 Sedan and RS 6 Avant performance. The model family sees changes through a mid-cycle product enhancement that includes a new front grille for A6 and S6 models and a refreshed rear diffuser on A6 models; new exterior paint, wheel and interior dash inlay options; as well as enhanced infotainment offerings along with new standard equipment and package contents.
What's confusing here is that "mid-cycle" implies that this current C8 version of the A6 should be around for at least another 3-4 years. Car development is planned years in advance so I can't imagine Audi would just *****-nilly scrap their EV plans so quickly after that announcement, as this supposed ICE C9 A7 would have already been in development around that time Audi announced their plans in 2021. Part of me thinks that this may not be an A6/A7 but some weird MQB platform car like the Chinese-market ICE Q6:

Good points and research. Thank you. I believe if politicians continue to push EV, our mild hybrid will not lose its value as quickly as non mild hybrid vehicles.
