Default "Auto, Motor und Sport".....RS6 performance somewhat dissapointing.....

The RS6 was tested agains the M5 and Alpina B10 V8 S in AMS (Germany) nr. 17, Aug. 2002.

0 - 100 km /h
RS6 4.9 sek.
M5 5.2 sek.
B10 5.4 sek.

0 - 130
RS6 7.8
M5 7.8
B10 8.3

0 - 200
RS6 18.9
M5 17.1
B10 19.5

Standing kilometer
RS6 24.2
M5 23.8
B10 24.6

Weight
RS6 1900 kg
M5 1777 kg
B10 1761 kg

...Seems like it might be better to wait for the new Merc E55 or S600 if performance is what you are looking for.

Default Perhaps a Trabant might give you the performance you are looking for.....

....I understand they are coming out with a new version -- this time they are using paper instead of cardboard for the body as a weight saving measure.....

I guess the M5 must be disappointing too.

Default RS6's performance seems much more than sufficient, IMO.

However, if you want more performance, I guess you could wait for the new BMW M5 (2005), new MB E55 AMG Kompressor (2004) or the freshened (and more powerful) MB S600 (2003). If you are willing to wait a little longer (2007 or 2008), the new RS6 (on the 500 lb. lighter all aluminum redesigned A6 platform) should produce around 550 hp. Now that car will give you more performance than the RS6 on the current A6 platform.

maybe on the autobahn (i.e. 150km/h+), but here in the US that's not much of an issue

Yeah, they all suck. I'll take the $80k I have lying around and invest it in stocks instead ;^)

Definitely much more than sufficient. Whatever you get, another will be faster in 6 months.

Default Typical of awd cars; quick jump to 60mph then slowed by the extra weight and drag of awd

I agree with all the hype it is disspointing to see the RS6 would only beat out a M5 for anything under 80mph; and this partial advantage in performance isn't even going to last very long; new E55 and V10 M5 should beat RS6 handily. So within a few year the RS6 would neither outhandle nor outaccelerate other super sedans from Germany.

Yeah, I know we have quattros but anyone that own a RS6 usually would own more than 1 car; and usually can afford another poor weather vehicle. So yes, I would wait for the other two.

But you know what there are only going to be about 700 RS6 coming to the U.S. so it's going to be a rarity that will be recognized by few but definitely appreciated in this forum
