Default As far as the momentary issue...neither NSZ-JR's original funk nor follow up posts...

refer to a momentary switch in this family, only that there may be a contact made before the switch latches on, thus requiring an impractical half push for true momentary action.

Default thanks! answers...

1) this mod is for a A4 1.8t...typically when you drive it hard you should wait for the oil temps to lower to reasonable levels before turning the car off. this will shorten that time by drawing air into the engine bay via the OEM A/C condenser fan as well as lower the coolant temps (I have the S4 oil cooler, so my oil temps are more coupled to the coolant temps).

otheruses for this mode would be to cool the car down faster between Auto-x runs, or at the track.

2)not sure if they are common or not, but i prefer to keep the circuits separate.

3)the switch illumination will operate like the other two OEM switches new to it, which is fine with me.

4)i will only operate the fan for a few minutes each drive, so having the indicator on is not a big deal.

Would greatly appreciate the momentary action switch part numbers. My app is garage door opener.

Default Well, after quick review, it looks like...

the momentary switches for the right side are for the A4 family, and will not fit the A6. however, the aprt numbers for the rear sunshade switch (left of the ESP button) are:

Glossy black for 98-01: 4B0 969 903 B
Matte black for 02-04: 4B0 969 903 C

Default You could also use a thermostatic switch to disable the fan.

Put the switch in a footwell, and when the temp drops below, say 60F, the switch opens to disable the fan.

Default How would that work?

How does basing fan operation on oil temp help you? Or am I missing something?
