$1700 for 60K
Picked up my car from Bruno's Audi Quattro in Queens this morning. (00 A6 Avant Audi Assured)
Bought the car w/57K from Bell Audi in NJ. Dropped it off w/Bruno who told me the dealer really put the screws to me. Replaced the timing belt, serpentine belt, water pump, rollers, and both sets of spark plug wires - which were causing the stupid MIL emmisons warining light to keep coming on - and did the standard 60K service - oil, filters, etc... $860 in parts alone. Very happy with the work, but pissed that the dealer didn't do sh*t when they sold me the car.

That wasn't wise for Bell Audi to do but......
I am sorry to say that it was part of your responsibility to check the vehicle before you make the final decision. Well it sounds like your Audi is going to run strong after all the issues been fixed. Good for you. Enjoy it.

I'm the last one to defend Audi dealers, but with the possible
exception of the spark plug wires, why on earth would they have done any of the other maintenance items mentioned on a car with 57K?

I made sure the 40k service was done before I picked up my 37k mile cpo car.
However, them bastards should have warned you and also disclosed it. I would **** and moan to AoA. Maybe 50/50 split might be fair. Alos take into consideration if you got a great price on the car.

Guys, the certified and prequalified cars that they
churn out at the auction certification centers is a joke IMO. If the car gets bought at the sale with prequalified status, its supposed to mean its ready to go. All the dealer has to do is pay the 800 bucks or so to add the warranty. They rarely get looked at in the shop again, because they are supposed to done!, ready for delivery. I have bought plenty prequalified cars with leaking tensioner seals, output shaft seals, warped rotors, radio on safe etc etc. Audi can only run a fraction of the cars thru the certification check, so a great deal of cars that are perfectly fine never even get a chance to get certified status. I have also noticed that alot of "paintwork" cars get certified as well as models that Audi happens to have alot of at the moment. I reason that this to kind of help along moving the iron as we say. If they only certified the cream puffs, nobody would buy the others. So if you think that all the certified cars are the cream of the crop, well, it just aint so. Ed

A lot of truth in what you are saying, but the service departments do catch a ton of crap....
if they place an Audi Assured warranty on a car that is sold, and then comes right back in with a bucketload of warranty issues that should have been fixed at the onset. Sure, the dealership sells the car, makes a profit, and AoA takes the warranty hit? There is hell to pay when this does occur. Truth of the matter is, that there is a lot of hell to pay going around because many dealerships are doing just that. CPOing cars without doing crap. And its going to blow up in their faces, legally speaking what with false advertisements, misrepresentation, etc. From a legal standpoint, Audi's CPO program and the way it is currently run is a living, breathing class action suit.
