**Temp gauge overheat fluctuates**pls help
I have 2002 a6 c5 3.0 82k. still factory belt and pump
-replaced fan control module 10-04-2009
-replaced ECT 03-2009
-replaced thermostat 08/2009
-BTW no thermal fan switch on this car. running on the fanc control module
-i bled the coolant lines already 10-04-2009
My dilemma. when driving car around town, the temp gauge, starts to climb/overheat pass the middle line.(it doesnt overheat all the way) when the fan kicks on, the temp gauge needle starts to go back the normal temp (middle line of the gauge)
what could possibly be?
thanks in advance

i was thinking maybe i have clogged radiator. but i have not verify that.
well, if waterpump was not working, wouldn't overheat all the way? i kind of think it isnt the waterpump.

What about the coolant temp sensor. Common issue.
Waterpump will usually leak, but not impossible for the impeller to have given up the ghost.
I don't think it's a restricted radiator, since that will usually show up first as rising temps at highway speeds but normal at idle and city driving.

just the electric fan control. You said it isn't a fan switch and I don't understand what a "fanc control module" is. Either way. It is whatever controls the fan. If it cools down as soon as the fan comes on then your thermostat and pump are fine.
Test the connections and test the control module. My bet is that module.
