Default 00796 - Fan for Interior Temp Sensor (V42)

Scanned with my diagnostic tool and got this fault code. I deleted it to see if it came back and it did. I guess it's the small fan associated with the temp sensor and is located behind the little grille in the AC unit? It says the speed deviation is too high. Don't know if that's the correct term since English is not my first language

Does anyone know what that means? Do I have to replace the unit? Or the little fan? Or is it nothing I've to worry about?

The funcction of that fan is to suck in air from the cabin and then measure the temperature no? Does it also help adjust the temperature when using the AUTO function on the AC unit?

The fan is part of the unit and cannot be separately replaced. Therefore, you must replace the unit.

my fan was dirty with lint on it and around the grill. I blow it clean and it started working fine and no fault codes.

Oh really? Did you take the AC unit out or did you just blow air through the grill?

Default Remove the Radio

I removed the Radio because I installed a GROM Bluetooth adapter and was able to use a can of air (for cleaning computers) and blow it clean. Use the straw that comes with the can.
The radio is straight forward to remove. Just YouTube it.
good luck.

it is frustrating when people post messages on forums without any knowledge. This is completely incorrect and the fan is a replaceable part. Remove the A/C unit and there are two small torx screws on the back of the fan, remove these and the fan just slides out and can be replaced. The replacement part number for the A3 is 8P0959101 and is £30.04 direct from Audi
