In 01 is it possible to have heated seats and not have the heated steering wheel?

I had a '99 with both, but the '01 2.7T only has heated seats. Cold days, I really miss this feature.

I like it fine without the heated wheel, but in Va. I don't need it much.

So it must have been a stand alone option, or was not offered in 01?

(with some assistance from others on this site) I remember the 4.2's retaining the option. It sure helped frozen finger tips!

Audi dropped it as a decontenting trick for various models. It was standard on base A6's with cold weather package until MY 00. I think it disappeared from the 2.7T's in 01. I believe you are better off without it. Most of the stories I have heard from other owners is that they eventually overheat to the point of burning one's hands, damaging the wheel wrap in the process. Or they burn out all together-something like $500 to replace the wheel, which is the only fix available, when one does finally fizzle out.

Correct, the '01 4.2 with heated seats also had the heated wheel.

You describe exactly why I *don't* want it.

IIRC, it was part of a package I didn't get on my Avant....
