reservoir near the cap just a coolant overflow hose? It's not shown in the Bentley coolent hose layout diagram, and it apparently just disappears into that rat's nest behind the engine and beneath the reservoir, and may be the source of my coolent leak dripping at the engine/tranny interface. Any BTDT insight greatly appreciated.

I am now on my third coolant reservoir. I had the stock one on there when I purchased the car. Then that one had a crack on the under side of it. Replaced it with one from PureMS. I thought it was OEM but sure enough I was wrong and the coolant reservoir had quickly died. Ended up with a crack on right side. Then I ordered an OEM part from WorldImpex and it has been working fine since then. No leaks and strong as the first day I bought it.
One had a visible crack, the other one had a very large hidden crack near the bottom of the tank on the underside where it curves around.
I would check the container first. Just take all of the screws off and examine it with your hands feeling to make sure there are not any cracks.

makes it hard to determine fluid level without opening the cap. You didn't/couldn't answer my Q?

The design is that if the system overpressurizes the cap will lift and the excess runs down that pipe onto the ground.
If this is really the source of the leak it could be due to :
Overfilling the reservoir (common)
Leaky ie faulty cap
Other fault such as overheating or (shudder) head gasket failure leading to overpressurizing of the cooling system.

...it could be the after run (aux) coolant pump. Check my signature and search for further info on how to diagnose/replace.

Reservoir overflow is thru an internal passage within the reservoir and out the bottom of it. So I still have a leak somewhere at the rear of the engine. Suspect something like a loose hose clamp on a heater hose, or? Must pressurize the system to find it. Any BTDT ideas?
