Default 02 A6 2.7t Stuck In Park!!

My automatic A6 is stuck in park. The light is always off that shows you if the brake is depressed or not. I messed with a few fuses and when I took out Fuse No. 31 I could finally get out of park. I'm in desperate need of help!

Probably the brake light switch. Do you hear a faint click in the shifter area when you hit the brake? If not, then the switch in the pedal is out. Cheap part and very easy to replace.

I have also seen the solinoid fail in the shifter, check the switch on the brake, and then check the solinoid

Default Interesting fact with Audi

They were the first to patent this safety feature because of the so called "unintended acceleration" BS that came about with the early 5000 models and hurt the reputation of Audi then, shortly afterwards it became mandatory on all US cars.

Then I've recently read Toyota settles a historic big 1.5 billion class action law suite for the same issue, "Oh What a Feeling" Toyota!

What does this have to do with your problem? Nothing

Just a relative fact

I also have a 2002 A6 2.7T and the same thing happened today!
The car will start and I can hear the solenoid activating the shift interlock as soon as the key is turned. The "foot" icon stays lit even when I press the brakes. I don't think it is the brake ligth switch as the brake lights do go on and off. I figured out how to get in drive but it's only temporary. Let me know what you find out. I was the coldest day of the winter here... don't know if it is related.
