Default If you scan a bad coil pack or more....

replace them all if they are original and change the plugs too.
I did this on my 04 at 70k with the same issue "one bad c-pack and ordered the c-packs from ECS tuning for around a buck forty, the plugs local.

Coil packs will be from the dealership or online from one of the usual suspects.

I typically use NGK Iridium plugs on my car. If you're going 50,000+ between plug changes, the iridium are worth it IMO.

What is they? Coil packs or plugs? I'm really hoping you meant the coil packs b/c if your at 107k and running on factory plugs then oh boy what other maintenance items have you been just ignoring.

The car has had regular maintenance. Bought it at 97,000.
Guy was a bit fuzzy on some of the things. Usually give my new cars a tune up anyway just to be on the safe side to avoid things like this. ( winter in WI and car maintenance never are fun.

Going to have a friend give me a ride tomorrow to AutoZone and get a scanner.

While your at AZ getting a scanner also pick up a set of new plugs, since your not sure when yours where done last. NGK Laser platinum or Iridium is what you want to use.

Without a scan, impossible to diagnose. Could even be something like faulty temp sensor, MAF issues, etc...

Thank you the tip.

Read in another thread that there was a recall on the coil packs? For
the C5 engine. Have to wait till Monday to call the dealership and find out more. Not sure if the previous owner took it in or not.

Did you do the timing belt svc yet? Your mileage is the time.

Engine shaking can be timing off/jumped.

I had CEL flashing for 15 sec then disappeared. Next day CEL was ON. My was due to Camshaft position sensors on driver side. 2 sensors on each side, total of 4. All good after 2 new ones on driver side. I didn't have engine shaking. Tech said if timing jumped engine is usually shaking.

To get a cleaner diagnosis, call the autoparts stores nearest to you, maybe they can scan the code for you. At most they may charge a small fee, not free like AZ.
