Default 03 A6 Questions!!

Does anyone know what engines and transmissions will be available next year? I'm thinking about an 02 A6 2.7T but am not totally sold on the turbo engine. I've heard this engine is going away, any ideas on the replacement - or is the 3.0 the replacement?

Also, any significant design changes in store for the 03 model year? Thanks for your input.....Kurt

If it is going away, get one while you can!

The 2.7T and 1.8T should be around until MY '04.

Default Possibilities include

a turbo version of the 3.0 aluminum block engine or dropping the turbo and having only the 3.0 and the 4.2. Less likely would be the W8 but the performance figures for that engine (on the Passat) are not nearly as good as the 2.7t.

Default There might be a 2.9T (which cosworth is supposedly working on) or it might just be...

3.0 vs. different flavors of the 4.2. The biturbo 4.2 might work its way into the mix also. Doesn't sound good for the 2.7T. But it's a great engine, why aren't you sold on it? No significant changes for next year. But the 04 (release expected Oct 03) is suppose to have an aluminum body a la A8. Engine options for the 2004 haven't been anounced, eveyone is just guessing at this point.

Default Probably won't come to the US but the 1.8T is likely to be replaced by ......

a direct injection (as per the LM car) 2.0 engine generating 150bhp and that may happen this year (ie for MY03). This new engine has much lower emmissions than the already good 1.8T and will enable it to compete better with the new BMW 2.0

Default This is last year for 2.7T engine. According to good info

from my local dealership. Allroad is going V8. Next S4 also V8. No twin turbo for the A6. I hope this info is wrong but it is supposed to be on very good authority.

Default Local dealer . . .

I had an Acura dealer swear a V8 AWD Legend would be introduced two years ago.

Default An auto mag. reported the W8 possibly in the mix too & the 4.2TT (AKA RS6) but . . .

I would look for the same engine lineup next year, with changes the following model year.
