They should fit.
A 2.8 should accept 15 inch wheels, as long as the offset and bolt pattern are correct.
16-inch minimum only applies to cars with bigger brakes (2.7T, 4.2).

Yes, they fit

Very rare here in the states, but I have seen a couple with 15" steelies
It seems along the lines of ordering one of these without leather..it's a downgrade option that only a very few cars have. But I have seen it.
