Default 17" factory wheels for 2.7T

Why do all of the Audi dealers I've spoken to tell me that none of the factory 17" wheels can be used on the 2.7T? I want to use the polished 5-spoke alloys used on the 225hp TT and the A6 4.2 (optional) or the 6-spoke TT or S4 Avus wheels. What's the story here?

Default TT Wheels won't fit

The TT wheels won't fit the A6, but wheels from the A4, S4, and A8 WILL fit. You might have to use spacers, I am not sure. others here have S4 avus wheels installed on the 2.7T...
-----

Default I believe the contraint here are the HP-2 brakes...

on the 2.7 T which require more wheel clearance than the standard front brakes. The S4 and A6 4.2 both have the HP-2 system so those wheels should work. The A6 2.8 wheels will not clear these brakes. I am not sure about the TT.

Someone please correct me if I am wrong.

Default S4 wheels fit - see registry for pics.

Not all A4 wheels fit due to brake clearances, as Muhammad and JP mention. Seems to me there is an issue with A8 offsets being a problem as well.

And the bolt diameter of the TT is smaller, so those definitely will not fit.

Default Yes I have, thank you.

I've tried to figure out "posting pics" but it's just not happening. I'm so ashamed.

Default Re: TT Wheels won't fit

So, does that mean that the polished 5-spoke "parabol" wheels on the A8/A6 4.2 will fit? They measure 17x8.0 as opposed to 17x7.5 on the TT (but are otherwise identical).

If so, I'm in the market for a set of these wheels. I can buy them from an Audi dealer in Munich for around $1100 (as opposed to $2K here), but I'd rather have them sooner than later...
