Default 1997 audi a6 quattro-- Horn!

My horn is dead and I need to fine a new one. I went to a store and he told me the part is about $170 because it's very special. So I am wondering whether you guys can give me some suggestion about it? Or where I could find a cheap one? Thanks a lot in advance!

Best,
Cheng

If it is just the horn that died, go aftermarket! Get a Hella air horn (check eBay, Amazon...probably even auto parts store near you) and have some fun.

There's nothing special about the OE horn, any 12v horn will work.

If we're talking dual tone horns, then yes, it does make a difference if one's just replacing one of the two horns because one horn produces the low note and the other produces the high note.

Get TWO hella horns, one high and one low. They're great...I had them on my saab 900T and they worked quite well at moving traffic over or waking up lane drifters. These are somewhat lower freqs than the air horns. Shop around..the prices vary dramatically.

Hella air horns are even better. 118dB. But you have to be careful where you mount them...they can get filled with snow...ask me how I know this...

Here's the best on you could probably get for noise...

152dB @150Hz?? Wow...you can feel it in your body when this sucker goes off! Now where to stuff that air tank....

Hi guys,

Thank you for your guys suggestion. I talked with a mechnic today and he told me I need a special one because there was a plug on it. Otherwise, we need to cut it first and then connet. So I really want you guys to help me figure it out. Please find the right one for me. Thank you very much in advance!

Best,
Cheng

Well, yes you'll have to cut and twist and solder if you put in anything but a stock Audi horn.

Nature of the beasts. Get the horn(s) you like and have them installed.
