Default 3.0 lights won't fit your '98...

The 3.0 (or any 02+ C5) have different hood, bumpers, and headlights than your '98 2.8.

Default Yes, it did.

You need either '98 - '01 A6 lights, or any year Allroad lights.

Default easy way to spot difference:

Notice how the short edges of the grill is nearly vertical on this new one, also the chromed intake beneath the plate:

Compare to the short edges here being much more diagonal, also the lack of chromed intake:

It would appear the newer cars have lights closer to quadratic in shape compared to the old wide shape.

BTW, neither car pictured is available in USA, they are 1.9TDI and 1.8T

Default You can easily convert them - I did on my 99 - Halogen to Bi-Xenons

Took the innards of a V8 bi-xenons and put them into the v6 '99 halogen black housings. Plug and play! I did have to cut one hole to bring power to the ballast - but the cutout area is already shaped and contoured.

Buffed the plastic lenses to remove some of the finer scratches and pit, and re-installed. Clear-corner-mod while at it!

See picture in my sig & link to the complete step-by-step with pictures.
