Hi All,
I have a 1999 A6 Avant and had a bit of a catastrophe with one of the heater hoses. The hose that attaches longitudinally popped off the end of its pipe. I effected a temporary fix, but need to replace the hose. The issue I am having is that I cannot find any diagram, video, or instruction as to how to remove the engine side connector. I'm also not sure which hose to buy to replace the failed one since they all seem to have angled connectors on the engine side. Seeing as they all appear to be over $100, I'm not all that excited about experimenting.
If anyone has any pics of the back side of a 2.8 removed from the car, which shows the driver-side heater hose connection, or better yet can point me towards replacement instructions and part numbers, I would be eternally grateful.

Oddly enough my 1999 A6 Avant, 246,000 miles, experience the same thing only two weeks ago. Sympathetic to your experience I will gladly share anything that I have learned. Finding a diagram, video, or instructions for this topic is highly unlikely; I plan to post my story very soon.
I found the people at eEuroparts.com from Connecticut to have great parts, prices, and service.
The part numbers for your car are:
Return Hose: 4B0 819 373 K
Supply Hose: 4B0 819 371 LA
You will see my recent post regarding this topic..."2.8 cooling system springs a massive leak"
The water that spewed from my broken hose has entered the area of the transmission 15-pin connection. It is now stuck in Limp Mode...not sure if I will ever fix this one!
Feel free to send me a personal message via this site.
