1999 A6 2.8l - CEL Group (P0411,P1141,P1129,P1127,P0103)
Good Day,
I searched the forum and came up with a few hits. These all appear to be grouped together.
Symptoms: Car idles rough, my wife had to floor it to get it to move (in auto. Tip works fine).
Check engine light is on.
So it appears I may have vacuum leaks, which contributes to a MAF issue, which affects the tranny? or, a bad MAF.
Should I start with the vacuum lines first? Replace with Silicon perhaps? I believe it is 3mm.
Is that the right approach?
Thanks - Frank
PS Any local Raleigh folks have a VAG-COM handy for Beer exchange?

Re: here are the codes
Thanks.
I pulled codes at Autozone with a printout to review. MAF and Trim levels mostly.
I cleaned the MAF and checked over the vacuum hoses as a start. I am running a K&N filter.... .
So my question now is - do I need to reset the CEL or will it go away on its own after a few cycles of the ignition? If that was indeed the problem.

1999 A6 2.8l - Cleaned MAF, Changed Filter, Cleared Codes, now....
So I cleaned the airbox, changed the filter back to a factory Mann filter, cleaned the screen on the air intake, MAF and checked connections.
The car ran without going into limp mode for two days (I did not clear the codes). I cleared the codes - still stumbles a bit and now have a Pending
P1141 - Load Calculation/performance
I have 3mm silicon hose that I will replace any suspect original hoses. I have a MAF sensor here for the weekend (sealed and can return if need be), but I read a post that stated that the fuel trims will adjust in 150 miles, according to my driving habits. Is that true or do I need a VAG-COM to reset those to a default?
I do not have a VAG COM yet (ordered one finally), just an OTC 3408 scanner.

Frank,
I know this is a super old post but wondering if and what fixed your problems. I have the same codes (except P0411) and went into limp mode. This after replacing the ECT sensor, and cleaning the MAF and IAT Sensors. Thanks for your help.

cleaning the maf is a waste of time. i always try it, never has it worked. Try just unplugging the MAF and if all the symptoms are magicly gone. its no good. The ECU will instantly revert to a speed density type programming to make the car run ok. The load calculation code is a dead giveaway the maf is bad. This is true ONLY if there are no large intake leaks.

Prospeeder,
Thanks for the insights. I've already tried unplugging the MAF and it makes no difference. In fact unplugging makes it immediately go into limp mode which obviously this is no improvement. I've tried several times and the ECU doesn't seem to make any programming adjustment (that I can tell).
