Sounds pretty serious. What do you mean oil? Tranny or engine oil?

We need more information. You changed the engine? Trans oil? How did you check it?

What do you mean "won't go into gear"? Shift is stuck? Shifts into gear but won't move? All gears? Does the speedo move?

Throw us a bone here.

I just changed the engine oil i didn't touch the tranny fluid.
i pulled the dipstick to make sure that the oil was at the level the manual told it to be at on the dipstick.
I can move the shifter and it will go into gear, but then it won't move.
I haven't experienced any shifting issues or slipping so idk what action to take.

So if you put it in D or 1st, can you push it as if it was in Neutral? This could be a minor thing to a major issue. Weird as you never had issues with the tranny before and now out of the blue it doesnt work.

Call Audi, local mechanic and see what they have to say. Just get their opinions along with these others on AudiWorld.

Does the speedo move? Can you feel the trans shift into gear? Any weird noises?

Are you absolutely sure that you drained the engeine oil and not the transmission?

This is like pulling teeth.

I think pulling teeth maybe slighter simpler. >.<

Check handbrake?

Any grinding noises?

Can you push the A6 when it's in "gear"

Does reverse work?

How exactly did you change the engine oil? care to elborate the procedure?

Does TIP mode work?

you can push it no matter what gear its in, which i don't understand because you can hear it switching gears yet it never bogs down and tries to actually move.
i can't hear any weird noises, it sounds the same as it did before i did an oil change.
all i did was remove the filter, put a new one on, then i drained the oil pan, plugged it back, and poured oil in it. the only other thing i did was replace a fog light, but that couldn't have anything to do with this problem as far as i know.

Have you changed the oil on your 2.7 before? Again if its in gear and you push the car as if its in neutral?

You are going to have to take this step by step, and provide more diagnostic info.

Changing the oil does nto affect the tranny nor linkage.

Low tranny fluid would certainly cause this, but you seem certain that you drained the proper fluid. Help us. Tell us what plug you took out, its characteristics, appearance and location

This could be coincidence. A misaligned linkage might cause this problem.

I dont know if on modern autos there are electronic over-rides. Maybe you hit a wire or connector. I am not familiar enough. It woudl seem a less than robust design, btu your situation is weird.
