Good afternoon,

Is performing an oil change on a 98 A6/2.8 car pretty straightforward?

I have done dozens of oil changes on a 91 Audi 80 but am planning on doing one on the 98 very soon and was wondering if I was in for any surprises.

Is the drain plug a bolt or a metric torx deal?

Remove the plastic cover under the engine area and there sits the filter and drain.Drain plug(bolt)takes a 17mm wrench if I recall correctly.No worries.

.....it even takes the same crush washer as the old 5cyl!!

The main difference between the two is that the A6 filter is "fatter" than the one for the old NG. So if you use an oil filter wrench to remove the filter you may need to get a bigger one.....and you may need one, as tight as the d@mn dealers get the things...BTDT!!
