2.8 vrs 2.7t Pros and cons?
#11
Just catching up to this thread now so i am a day late an a dolar short . Being the owner of 2 2.8litre Audis I would have recomended the 2.7T. the 2.8 12v in my Audi 90 is a wonderfull engine , the 90 is a light nimble and very enjoyable car ( 5spd) It is tonnes of fun t drive.
In the A6 i find the 2.8 not nearly powerfull enough for such a large and heavy car. it is the 30V but it is still more of a lumbering car than my 90. To do again I would have gone for the 2.7T . of course I do all my own work too so that may be a factor for you ..

Well there ya go .. i think the 2.8 is just too weak an engine for the a6 platform and i would consider it the most basic barely works engine .. they should have left it with the 90 and A4 cars .. I guess Audi agrees with us because it quickly became the 3.0 then the 3.2 .. and i think even those engines needed hep ..

I am looking for my next project A6, I have found 2 cars that both need about the same amount of work done to be drivable. one is a 99 A6 2.8 the other is a 2000 A6 2.7t, both cars are also about the same price, I can get the 99 for $1500 it has new tires and the 2000 will need tires soon and it's $1700 and it is also 3 hrs away so cost would be a bit higher. but needless to say both cars are CHEAP and well worth it. But KBB lists the value of the 00 2.7t as less then the 99 2.8 why is this?? I plan on driving this car for anywhere from 1 month to 2 yrs, Ya just never know with me, I like to piddle with Audi's, both cars will need the T-belt done, and I have the tools for the 2.8, I think the 2.7 is different correct?? I have never owned a 2.7t but had several 2.8's and I know it well, any real plus's or minus's between the 2 cars? the
thanks
