Default 2000 2.7T Sport Package

i'm a bit confused about whether this included any suspension changes - I thought it was lower and stiffer with thicker roll bars?

However, I've heard elsewhere that the suspension was unchanged.

Can anyone recommend upgraded shocks for my car? Would like to make it a little less wallowy especially when fully laden. Car has 71K miles - are the shocks normally getting worn by now?

Default Re: 2000 2.7T Sport Package

I went with H&R Springs and Koni shocks with the H-sport sway bars on MY 2000 2.7T.

Big difference from the stock non-sport setup.

Others have gone with Eibach setup.

Default Early production "Sport Package" cars did not include a suspension upgrade.

Cars built after January of 2000 did. Regardless, 71k miles is time to replace/upgrade.

Default Mines a late 1999 - so no suspension upgrade?

It looks very low though - can I tell by measuring the ride height?

Default There were two packages for 2000

PSP - "original" sport package: summer tires + sport seats + different 16" wheels

PSK - sport suspension package: summer tires + sport seats + different 16" wheels + stiffer/lower suspension

PST (later production) - sportier suspension package: summer tires + sport seats + 17" wheels + stiffer/lower suspension

Look in your spare tire well or owner's manual for a sticker that shows the option codes for your car.

Default Re: There were two packages for 2000

Thanks, will check the wheel well tonight. I think I have the sports suspension as the car looks quite a bit lower than most other A6s I see.

Default None of those options listed

Just checked, none of those options are listed! The car is described as "A6 Lim Quattro 2.7" - is the Lim some kind of limited edition?

Default You saw the other option codes (usually 3 letters or numbers)?

Lim is short for limosine = German for sedan.

Have you looked under the car? Could it already have an aftermarket suspension?

In any case, as other suggest, if this is the original suspension and you have 70K on the car, it's time for new shocks at the very least.

Default Look for 1BE. You won't find PSP or PSK on the sticker -- those are package codes...

not factory build codes. PSP, etc. are assigned by the local importer and may be even used by different importers in other areas of the world but having different combinations of parts.

But the information that early MY2000 builds with PSP did not have sport suspension is correct. The later PSK and PST packages added a larger rear bar (the front is the same), 20mm shorter springs and different struts.

Look for the code 1BE on that sticker. If it's there, you have the suspension pieces. The OEM struts were red. But, as the other also pointed out, the struts are due to be changed at 71k. At least you'll know which springs and bar you have...

Yes - lots of 3 letter codes! But neither the 1BE (I have 1BH?) nor the PSP etc are there.

Front roll bar is about 20mm thick and rear about 15, I have red shocks.

NB Check my new post out - what I noticed while I was checking out the shocks!
