2000 2.7T - Stuck in First - Clutch dead?
Well I always knew it was a possibility - I bought this car with 94K miles so I expected to have to do some repairs along with the minor upgrades. After going through all the typical repairs - I was good for 15k miles - no problems.
So I had friday off - first priority - washed the car -cleaned the interior, checked fluids...went for drive.
I noticed that when depresing the clutch it felt a bit odd..not quite as smooth. I can only describe it as a slight change in feel...so I was not concerned. I came to a uphill stop light...and tried to put it in nuetral....no such luck-- had to make a right to keep the car running. Drove the .5 mile home in first gear.
Got home.... tried to get the car out of first and it did come out - so now its parked in neutral.
I read a post in the forum that makes me think that I have a problem with the master/slave cylinder.
Would welcome any thoughts...

Possible solution -
So I seached the forum for answers and found this link to an jhm instructional video that describes the common problems. The title of the video I watched was "Inside the Audi 6-speed transmission"
http://www.jhmotorsports.com/shop/catalog/videos
So it sounds like I may need the 1-2 shift collar replaced along with the syncros?

generally a bad clutch slave or master cyl won't let you get the car in gear...grinds something horrible.
If this is the case, think zebras instead of horses...fix the clutch master/slave.

ouch
ok shop say need:
1. new clutch
2. master is sipping - but I could hold off and replace in the future
3. Slave needs replacement
if I have them do 1-3 $2650.00
However I just told them I may want to use the RS4 clutch kit? (thoughts) I do have GIAC Chip but not planning on doing much more then that to increase power.
Also told them that while they are there I may want to also replace the 1-2 shift collar to fix the notchy/chunky feel of shifting from first to second.
opinions and thoughts appreciated.
Thanks
