You are talking about this part right? This is both the level and temp sensor. I believe.

no that is the level sensor for the 2.7

the audi dealership sold me this part for my 2.8 claiming that it is the oil temp sensor.

I've herd its behind the timing belt which is gonna be a PITA cuz I've gone into the service position multiple times this month chasing down multiple problems.
