You could need ignition modules, oil down in the spark plug holes or need spark plugs. The coils really don't go bad on the early 2.7Ts

Which plugs/cylinders? All on one bank or just one pair?

Can try switching coils if you have coiloverplug ignition. See if misfire moves (need Vag-com to tell).

What condition are the plugs in? How many miles/years on the plugs?

I had same problem and it was the ignition module unit that sits atop the air intake on passenger side of engine. I bought it on ebay, and just took a guess as to which one to replace (there are two). I'm trying to remember now but I believe I had misfires on just 3 cylinders which were all tied to one ignition module.

Hi Hippy

I had a similar issue on mine. It was not the ICMs. New plugs did not help, and the coils were swapped to other cylinders without the misfire "moving"... I eventually replaced the injectors (did all of them, got a set off eBay for cheap and sent them out to be cleaned etc). Problem solved.

Just somethign to keep in mind if you go through all the others and still have trouble.

Cheers

How did you figure out it was the injectors?.. I've got the odd random miss fires.. i've not yet swapped injectors around yet as it's not as quick as my wifes A4 with the 3.0( I've got a 2001 Allroad with the 2.7t.
