Default 2000 Dash Pod illumination

Can anyone verify if the dash pod illuminates without having the driving lights on? For example driving in a tunnel or a parking ramp. My 2000 A6 does not do this. However, both my 1998 A4Avant and 2001 S4Avant did this.

I am trying to figure out if I have something broken or if this is a 'feature'. If the later anyone know if this is a setting that can be controlled by the ECU interface?

Default 2000 does not light up unless you turn on the parking lights or headlights.

You don't have a malfunction. When I sold my 2000 and bought my '03, I noticed that in the '03 the gauge pointers (but not the actual dials) light up whenever the key is in the "on" position. Not so in the 2000.

My 2001 does not - someone posted it's selectable by VAGCOM.

I think, but my '98 A4 did. It would be helpful though.

Default Re: Vag-com or not that is the question

It looks like no one on this list knows for sure how to do it. I will make a cross post to the Vag-com forum. I will try the S4 forum too, those guys tend to be pretty knowledgable about hidden vag-com stuff.

In the mean time, I would appreciate it anyone had infor on this, please post it.
