Will be shopping for an A6 soon (1-2 months), and would like to get a sense of the market. I will probably purchase the car thru a VW dealer that gets the cars from VW credit (mostly off lease).

Default in the same boat here

I checked on Edmunds. Based on options and condition mid 20's is resonable.

Just depends if someone is looking for exactly what you have.

I think I am going to keep mine. Its just too much fun and yet so practical and spacious.

From a dealer (with Audi Assured) maybe $21,000. Privately, $18-19,000

Default I paid $21,500 for mine three months ago

Its a CPO (certified pre owned), and it had about 47,000 miles on it when I picked it up. It has all the options except the sports package. The best place to research prices is autotrader.com. Just do an advanced search for a 2001 A6 and put in a price range and you'll see all the cars available. Thats how I found mine.

Default Re: 2001 A6 2.7T 45-55k mi - what's a good price?

Bought my 2000 2.7T -

38,000
Premium/Bose
Newish tires
New brakes
No sports package
No major scratches
No dings
Well taken care of
Certified (but w/o warrantee) 15 months ago

-for $21,300 two weeks ago from a private party. I'm still feeling pretty good about what I paid.

Ballpark guess, I would shoot for 21 - 22k. Check Edmunds, Kelly, and - ahh - what's that third one? They will give you three fairly divergent prices. Mine ranged over about $2,000.

Email me if you need a carfax check. I have a year subscription but bought the first car I checked on it.
