Hi all, I have a 2001 A6 Avant quarto

I have been looking for 2 hours for the answer to the following questions, and got a lot of, "I think...", "I heard....", and "Definitely all have them cause my friend's auntie told my brother's wife that..."

Please, this site has lots of knowledge out there, someone can answer these and back them up...


1. Do some 2001 A6 not come with an immobilizer standard?

2. If yes, how do I know? If no, how do you know {and know means empirical evidence that can be confirmed, not just the guy at best buy said so}?

like...

2. Where can I physically see the immobilizer in my car, if it has one {To confirm its existence}? Or, how can I confirm its presence?

3. What exactly does the dash light look like that represents the immobilizers presence?

I am almost, really, kinda, sorta sure that mine does not have one, but I am a Physics /philosophy of logic guy and really am not happy with really kinda sorta sure. Especially dealing with something that can disable my car.

A 2001 A6 with immobilizer has an icon on the dash to the left of the 7000rpm mark on the tach that looks like the outline of a car with a key inside

When you turn the key to accessory on position, if you have such an icon, I would feel reasonably assured that you don't have immobilizer, and vice versa.

As far as what version of immobilizer, I don't know how to tell them apart like I do on Volkswagens, but this should be a start.
