is it just a plug and play?

they are OEM xenon off another 2001 a6

Default but im going from OEM non hid to xenon, still plug n play, didnt see it in the article ...
that or i messed it

yeah you just won't have self-leveling function, did this with our old 98 A6

Default Plug and play...I swapped in HID guts into my '99....
...with no issues. I think the only think you want to be sure of is the fuse. If the car as DRLs that would present a problem and you would need to pull the DRL relay.

Default Correct, and also no self-leveling, so make sure they are properly adjusted...
...so you do not blind oncoming traffic.
