I little while ago I posted potential issues with the 2002-2004 4.2xenons working correctly in my 2000 4.2. Well...there are no issues at all. I popped them in this afternoon, plug them in, and viola, we have light. Halogens still act as high beam...so the only difference is the larger xenon lense. All the liturature I found on the later lenses implied that they are bi-xenon, but they surely aren't working as such in my car.

if you look closely at a 2002+ bi-xenon projector, the high beam open a shutter to make the xenon light brighter. However, it is not instant, which is why the lamp assembly has the halogen bulb, for those immediate quick flash needs that the shutter would not be able to replicate.
I was skeptical as wel, until I experimented while looking at the reflection in my wife's Honda Pilot one night. She was wondering what the hell I was doing in the driveway, flashing lights...thought I was in trouble LOL!

My experience is that the shutter is on a solenoid and reacts immediately. The xenon bulbs shines much higher and the halogen bulbs turns on right-away.
I have many picures that demonstrate the various modes - but none that show the halogen high-beam:
Normal (low beam) Xenon:

Xenon with shield down (high beam mode)

I do not have a picture of the high beam halogen, but for comparison I have a low beam halogen:

With the bi-xenon headlamp, in high mode, it feels like daylight - high and wide powerful white light.
I have detailed instructions linked in my sig. Basically the innards (reflector) have the same mounting points and fit neatly into the 99 's headlamps.
I'm entertaining upgrading to a newer car soon, so I may put them on the market. I also have some spare parts, but not enough for two headlights. If you have some parts, may be we can put together a set.
