Default 2002 A6 4.2 Tranny Fault codes

I have my A6 4.2 Quattro - 164000 miles - Automatic

My issue is my A6 is slipping between 1st - 2nd gear when warmed up. It runs and shifts great when its first while running at cold temp. When driven a few miles and i come to a stop. then start off from light or stop, it occasionally slips and over revs ( like it hits neutral ) then "clunks" into gear when it shifts between 1st - 2nd. If i run the freeway home and get off later down the road it will shift fine for a while but will slip every once in a while. So it is somewhat random when it slips. It shifts bad about 50% of the time when i stop and go again.

So before i drop the $5000 for a new transmission im asking forum guys if you have any other alternate fixes or suggestions for this issue that might have worked.

Both codes suggest checking fluid, sensors, solenoids etc before replacing transmission but this is going to add a few hundred dollars to the bill to fix, if it doesnt work.

The codes that are being thrown are P0730 and P0732 ... which if it was just the P0730 code my tech guy felt could just be a shift sensor but with both codes showing up he said i need a new transmission.
Now , Its NOT that i dont believe the guy that could be $5000 dollars richer next week .... no wait ... YEAH IT IS ..i dont trust the guy who has the potential to be $5000 richer next week.

So i am open to any advice people might have.

Borrow a VAG-COM and pull the Audi codes. Check the fluid level too. Do some measuring block tests to see if the TCU is seeing the correct gears.

lol 5000$ richer? Hes gotta buy a transmission first. which probably cost him a 3+ thousand. its not like hes making 5k off you. hes making a little markup on a transmission and labor time on a job thats pretty misrible and involved. Your trans is junk, no sensor is going to cause a 1-2 slip when warm and fluid level is a maybe, but typicly it bangs in all gears and will fall out of gear under hard cornering. Its junk, clutches are worn and slipping, 4.2 transmissions are weak piles.

well of course lol i really dont use the quote button, it makes it all crowded. I suppose im not used to how this forum posts, its so strange, cant just be a post, a post in chronological order. So posts end up being all scattered and dont make sense because something been posted later and this was replied to an earlier post. It makes it so confusing

Fugget-about-it! I've probably done it a dozen times when I forget to directly reply to the OP or the thread poster or subject matter out on a limb, you did nothing wrong here from what I've read.

It depends on what view you use. There are plenty of folks on this forum who still use threaded view. Taking care when replying is considerate to everyone.
